President Joe Biden will give a speech on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 Biden addressed the nation at 2.30 pm and his speech was streamed on the White House YouTube channel. He discussed the wide-spreading new Omicron variant that is prompting cases to surge in the United States. ...If you're not fully vaccinated, you have good reason to be concerned,... said Biden. The president promised that the vaccine ...saves lives.... ...Get your booster shot, wear a mask,... said Biden. He claimed tens of millions of people who are eligible for the booster have not yet gotten it. Biden said that even former President Donald Trump got a booster shot. Three weeks ago Biden prepared a Covid-19 action plan, and today he said he will strengthen it. He added 10,000 new vaccination sites on top of the 80,000 sites that were already in place. FEMA is now going to put out new pop-up vaccination sites, according to the President. The president reassured people that the country will not go back to how it was in March 2020, when nonessential places shut down. In an effort to combat soaring Covid-19 illnesses and the new, highly transmissible Omicron variant, Biden announced the purchase of a half-billion at-home fast Covid-19 tests. Biden said he will make sure that the pandemic does not force businesses and schools to close. He cited that the federal court reinstated his vaccination or test rule for businesses with more than 100 employees will help people be safer. He also detailed the deployment of 1,000 military medical staff to overcrowded hospitals. Building on his winter approach, Biden is increasing the availability of fast testing because of the shortages that have resulted in lengthy lineups and overburdened hospitals in hot regions as Americans travel around the country for the holidays.
