AFTER two decades of buying lottery tickets, a man won more than £45,000 from a leftover ticket he found in his car's cupholder. Chris Leggatt, from Ontario, Canada, had found no luck in his many years of buying lotto tickets until he looked in his car. The 46-year-old Canadian then discovered he had won the prize. "My colleague heard the Big Winner sound and said, 'Are we rich?' I showed him the screen and said, 'I don't know about you, but I am'," he said. The automotive worker went to collect his cheque at Toronto's OLG Prize Centre. "I felt disbelief at first but it feels official now that I'm receiving the cheque," he added. He still went into work the next day to share the news and celebrate with his colleagues. He plans to use the money to finish some home improvements and go on a luxury beach holiday this winter. The winning lottery ticket had been bought at a petrol station in Ontario. Another Canadian Jacqueline Attfield won £65,000 after buying a fluke ticket whilst her dog was at the vet. The retiree had bought the ticket by chance in late July and only recently checked her numbers. "I took a closer look and thought I won $1,000, but after looking again, I noticed it said 'Big Winner' and saw the actual amount," she said. Meanwhile in North Carolina, a woman won after finding a ticket weeks before it was due to expire.
